About Coach Powell
Years before Dennis Powell got the chance to take the mound in Dodger stadium, the five year old threw his first pitch during a farm team practice in the tiny town of Norman Park, Georgia, population 675.
During this period, there was no travel ball, no elite teams, just three committed brothers and a host of other supportive adults who coached him and his teammates through the early years of life.
On July 7, 1985, two seasons after the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Coach Powell as an undrafted free agent, he made his Major League debut at age 21. His professional pitching career expanded over 14 years.
Coach had the chance to play with the likes of George Brett, Fernado Valenzuela, Orel Hershier, Ken Griffey Jr, Nolan Ryan and many other baseball greats.
Coach Dennis is a Christian, who believes that God blessed him with the opportunity to play at the Major league level for several reasons. One is provide for his wife of 25 years, Brenda and their family, The other is to use his experiences to help others find success on and off the field. Coach Dennis clearly understands many of the physical and mental challenges his prospective students will face in the tough, and competitive field of sports. One of Coaches'greatest skills is his ability to communicate with kids of all ages.
Coach is well aware that sports field is an area where many dreams will be fulfilled but he also knows that it is a place where many dreams will be shattered.
Coach Dennis has already received the honor of seeing some of his former players grow and sign professional contracts, now, he hopes this same fate becomes a reality for his sons.

What some of Dennis' past and current students have to say:
" Coach Powell taught me how to properly throw a baseball. To this day, I have coaches and scouts telling me how good my mechanics are and it goes back to Coach Powell teaching me the proper mechanics of throwing. He was very easy going and fun, but he also knew when to have constructive criticism. He was very good with the mental part of the game as well.. He would sit me down and go through situations so I wouldn't be surprised in a real game. "

"One of the things that stuck with me from spending time with my dad and past coach was a saying he quoted often, "Proper Practice Prevents Poor Performance". Although I was much younger, that principle is one I still live by in all of my endeavors. His teaching style is very effective.

"My son Jacob has improved tremendously throughout the 2 years of being with Coach Powell. Coach sees and corrects the little things while teaching both the physical and mental sides of the game. Coach Powells communicates at a level that brings out the most in the individual. Would I recommend Coach Dennis to pitchers? 100 percent, yes."
